Australian/Sri Lankan musician visits Lanka to give a helping hand
SRI LANKAN born Australian Ron Ragel of Co-Director Global Network
Productions has come to Sri Lanka to see the devastation of the tsunami
and to convey to the many concerned Australians that help is still
needed and quickly.
Over the years, Ron's countless world music productions, concerts,
workshops, books and CDs have inspired many thousands of people. He has
a history of over twenty-five years as a musician, composer and producer
working with many musicians from a diversity of cultures, styles and
genres.
He has worked extensively with diverse cultures from all over the
world including the indigenous people and in 1996 the Aboriginal people
in Australia awarded him for his work. His work has been featured on
national network television, most recently: Yoga of Sound has featured
on the hit TV series, "Celebrity Overhaul", Channel 9.
The visit here coincides with the launch of the album in Sri Lanka.
Touched by the plight of many Sri Lankans affected by the tsunami, a
percentage of the proceeds of sales of Sacred ragas will go to support
the work of the Sarvodaya organisation to which Ron's organization
Global Network Productions and its supporters have been donating funds.
Ron was last here in Sri Lanka in 1998, launching his book, 'Total
Life Artistry,' a workbook designed to transform and greatly improve all
areas of life, providing the tools and processes for achieving
happiness, harmony and effective action. He was here again in 2003
launching the album.
'The Odyssey', an album described as 'a celebration of the global
spirit of Australia, driven by the explosive impetus of Australia's rich
cultural diversity and performed by some of Australia's finest world
music artists". The album received rave reviews. |
