Lanka tour match: Rain washes out final day
WELLINGTON, Wednesday (Reuters) - Sri Lanka's preparations for the
test series against New Zealand were wrecked on Wednesday when rain
washed out the final day without a ball being bowled against a Major
Associations XI.
The second day at the Village Green in Christchurch was also wiped
out. The home team made 321 on Monday, with discarded New Zealand test
player Craig McMillan making 121.
The three-day match was Sri Lanka's only warm-up before the first
test, starting on April 4 at Napier. The second and final test begins in
Wellington a week later. The series had been scheduled for January but
was postponed after the Asian tsunami. |
