New Director General of Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri
Lanka appointed
Channa de Silva has been appointed as Director General of the
Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka with effect from 30th
March 2005. Mr. de Silva served as an Executive Director at the Board of
Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) and was involved in promoting Foreign
Director Investments to Sri Lanka.
He has also served as Head of Strategy at Eagle Insurance and also
held the position of Head of Bancassurance and Integrated Marketing in
the Company, states a press release issued by the Securities and
Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka.
Mr. De Silva was the founder Security of the Sri Lanka Association of
Securities & Investment Analysis (SLASIA) for four years and served in
many capital market development initiatives. He currently serves as a
Member of the Pension Reform Advisory Committee of the Central Bank of
Sri Lanka.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree with Second Class upper
division honours from the University of Colombo, Chartered Management
Accountant with Associated Membership at the Chartered Institute of
Management Accountants UK.
He also holds a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of
Marketing (U.K.) and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) degree
from the University of Melbourne, Australia with financial concentration
of the degree done at the Stockholm School of Economics in Sweden. |
