Appointed Chief Adhikarana Sangha Nayaka of Southern Sri Lanka
The Anunayaka Karaka Sangha Sabha, headed by the Most Ven.
Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Maha Nayaka Thera, the Maha Nayaka
of the Shyamopali Maha Nikaya, Malwatta Chapter, has appointed Ven.
Panditha Habarakada Indaratana Nayaka Thera, as the Chief Adhikarana
Sangha Nayaka of Southern Sri Lanka. This prestigious ecclesiastical
position fell vacant upon the Passing Away of Ven. Rajakiya Panditha
Athureliya Indaratana Nayaka Thera.
Ven. Habarakada Indaratana Nayaka Thera is the senior pupil monk of
the late Ven. Mawanane Sri Sonuttatara Nayaka Thera, the Viharadhipathi
of Budugala Raja Maha Viharaya of Rotumba, Matara and the late Ven.
Mawanane Keerthi Sri Pemananda Nayaka Thera, the Viharadhipathi of Sri
Vijayananda Raja Maha Viharaya, Habarakada, Thavalama.
He is a past pupil of the Vidyodaya Pirivena, Maligakanda and an
Honours Graduate, a Master Degree holder and a holder of Diploma in
Education. He was a Teacher at Habarakada Sri Vijayananda Pirivena,
Tangalle Maha Vidyalaya and Thursten College, Colombo. During his 22
year term of office in the tutorial staff of Ananda College, Colombo,he
moulded the young lives of a large number of eminent scholars in the
island who are presently holding high positions in the spheres of
medicine, Engineering, Education and politics, both here and abroad.
Ven. Habarakada Indaratana Nayaka Thera also a well respected Dhamma
preacher owing to his regular contributions to Dhamma programmes over
the electronic and print media in addition to his services to propagate
the message of the Buddha throughout the world.
The ceremony for the presentation of "Aktha Pathra" (Act of
