Elephant House brings out frozen yoghurt
by Irangika Range
The Ceylon Cold Stores limited launched its novel frozen product, an
Elephant House frozen yoghurt giving a fresh perspective to the food and
beverage sector. Frozen yoghurt is a blend of ice cream and yoghurt,
which contributes to the difference in texture and taste, compared to
other compatible products available in the market.
John Keells Holdings Food and Beverage Group, President Jit Gunaratne
said Elephant House frozen yoghurt is a relatively new concept to Sri
Lanka and is yet another step taken by us, as we continue to reward our
loyal customers with an innovative product range, offering good taste
through our experience in ice creams. "It comes in two flavours,
strawberry and treacle," he said.
Director, Ceylon Cold Stores Ltd. Neil Samarasinghe said that the
frozen yoghurt was developed through the collaborative efforts of an
international and in-house team of experts.
"Therefore it would undoubtedly meet the discerning consumers needs,"
he said. "Frozen yoghurt became internationally popular in the 1990s and
has been successful due to its association with nutrition and health and
is often a good substitute for a light lunch or snack. It is an
innovative product which will capture the consumer need for balance in
their diets.
This product delivers it all great fun, nutrition and health," said
Manilal De Silva, Sector Head, John Keells Holdings Food and Beverage
(Manufacturing). He also said that the Halal certification for Elephant
House ice cream had been extended to cover frozen yoghurt as well. |
