Celltel to rebuild and equip 40 damaged Gramodaya Health Centres




CEO of Celltel Dumindra Ratnayaka and Minister of Health Nimal Siripala de Silva exchange documents.

Celltel and its parent company Millicom will commit funds to rebuild and equip 40 damaged Gramodaya Health Centres (GHC), in the coastal districts from Jaffna along the east coast up to Gampaha in its effort to assist in the recovery and reconstruction of Sri Lanka.

The said project, costing over Rs. 180 million, will be supervised by Celltel through independent contractors based on the plans approved by the Government. A separate account will be maintained for the same, which will be audited. The project which is to commence shortly and will be carried out over a period of time.

As soon as the construction of a GMC is completed, it will be fully equipped and handed over to the health authorities enabling the resumption of services in the affected areas rapidly.
