Council mulls trade delegation to Taiwan
The Sri Lanka Taiwan Business Council affiliated to the Ceylon
Chamber of Commerce in a bid to promote investment trade and tourism is
planning to take a trade promotion delegation from Sri Lanka to Taiwan
by about the end of the year and inviting an investment and tourist
promotion mission from Taiwan, through Taitra.
Taiwan is planning to expand its trading activities in the world. Sri
Lanka happens to be a major exporter of Taiwan manufactured goods for
the past decade.
They have changed the name of their main trading organization (CETRA)
viz, The China External Trading Development Council, to Taiwan External
Trade Development Council, or (TAITRA), to enhance its image as the
foremost trade promotion organization in Taiwan.
Taiwan is one of the world's newly emerging economies with a very
high potential for development. It boasts of building the world's
tallest building in Taipei city. Cetra was established in 1970 and has
gained worldwide recognition for the promotion of bi-lateral trade... It
intergrates the promotion of Taiwan inbound/outbound investment, tourism
industry, as well as expanding markets for agricultural products to a
wider spectrum of its existing trade promotion services.
