Kasun steers Asoka to victory

A superb unbeaten knock of 96 by Kasun Weerasinghe guided Asoka Vidyalaya to an easy five-wicket win in their Under-19 Lemonade trophy limited over tournament match against Carey at Railway grounds.

Batting first, Carey were bowled out for 238 in 42 overs with L. sampath making a top score of 84. But Weerasinghe's blistering innings, which included ten fours and a six, piloted Asoka to a good win at the end as they made 239 for 5 in 41.3 overs. Weerasinghe also bagged two wickets in the Carey innings.

Carey: 238 in 42 overs (L. Sampath 84, C. Perera 48, Malinda Senadheera 2 for 35, Kasun Weerasinghe 2 for 44).

Asoka: 239 for 5 in 41.3 overs (Kasun Weerasinghe 96 n.o, Malinda Senadheera 46, D.S. Hettiarachchi 38).
