MATARA 'TSUNAMI' PRISONER NABBED

KEBITIGOLLAWA Police arrested an escapee from Matara Prison who fled while the tsunami engulfed Matara town on December 26.

The suspect was arrested following a raid conducted on the instructions of North Central Province DIG Jayantha Gamage and Anuradhapura SSP Jayasri Udawatta.

He was arrested hiding in his mistresses' house at Kebitigollawa around 5.30 p.m. last Saturday.

The suspect was identified as A. T. Prabhath Kumara of Weligama, Matara, a convicted prisoner, involved in several grave crimes linked to Pallattara Jagath, a notorious underworld leader in the South, investigations revealed.
