Alleged rape case:
UNP Provincial Councillor ordered to produce all
relevant documents

Kusala Weerawardena yesterday ordered UNP Provincial Councillor Duminda
Silva, who is alleged to have raped a teenage girl, to produce all
relevant documents required by investigators and to give his specimen
handwriting to the investigating officers today, in the presence of the
Court Registrar.
National Child Protection Authority told Judge Weerawardena yesterday
that the dossier in connection with the investigations into the alleged
rape had been forwarded to the Attorney General for his advice.
Nalin Ladduwahetty, senior counsel for Silva told court that his
client had already given his specimen hand writing, but if the
investigators needed his handwriting for the second time, he was
prepared to do so.
Ladduwahetty with U. L. G. Bandara, Jeevatha Jayathillake, Sudath
Perera, Deshan Hewavitharana, Namal Perra, U. M. P. M. Madumalee, Aruna
Wickremasinghe and Mahee Wijeweera instructed by Sudath Perera
Associates appeared for Silva.
The suspect was directed to appear before court on June 16, 2005. |
