NSB launches 'Rana Viru Dudaru Hapan'

National Saving Bank (NSB) in collaboration with Rana Viru Seva
Authority (RVSA) has set up 'Rana Viru Dudaru Hapan' Scholarship Account
for children of service personnel. The MOU in this regard was signed at
the NSB head office yesterday.
As an initial deposit for year 2005 RVSA will deposit Rs.8.4 million
to the NSB 'Rana Viru Dudaru Hapan' Scholarship Account which will
benefit 2000 children from all districts.
General Manager/CEO of NSB E. Narangoda said that this was not a
normal scholarship program.
"Normally, each month scholarship holder gets fund and this may some
times used for other needs of the family. Under 'Rana Viru Dudaru Hapan'
scholarship program each month RVSA will deposit Rs.250 to Rs.350 each
to the accounts of scholarship holders.
"When these children grow up they can invest these funds in any other
business if they are not interested in higher studies" he added.
"Our main objective is to ensure the future well being of the
children of service personnel and help them in their higher education,
said Chairman of RVSA Major General H.N.W Neil Dias. |
