CTC wins ACCA Sustainability Reporting award

THE Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) successfully concluded the ACCA Sri Lanka Awards for Sustainability Reporting 2004, with Ceylon Tobacco Company Ltd emerging as overall winner.

Commendations were also awarded to Ranweli Holiday Village Ltd for Integration of Business within the Immediate Environment and Aitken Spence Hotel Holdings Ltd for Integration of Environment within Business Operations.

The award ceremony took place on 9th March 2005 at Colombo Hilton with the participation of the Minister of Finance, Hon. Dr. Sarath Amunugama as Chief Guest.

Launched in November last year for the first time in Sri Lanka this unique scheme aims to reward transparency by giving recognition to organizations that report and disclose social, environmental and sustainability information to their stakeholders.

Speaking at the award ceremony, the Chief Guest Dr. Sarath Amunugama commented that ACCA has always been at the forefront of new initiatives and hoped that ACCA would be successful in continuing with their innovative ventures in the local corporate sector.
