Eagle SC win Chandra Silva Trophy
Eagle SC, Obeysekarapura, winners of the Mayor's Cup
2002, conducted by the Kotte FL, won the 'Chandra Silva Memorial trophy
football championship 2004/2005. The championship was organised by Kotte
FL in honour of the late Chandra Silva, 1st Mayor of Kotte MC and former
President.

The championship is the brain-child of the present
President DIG K. P. P. Pathirana, for the yeoman service he rendered to
develop football and building playgrounds under his jurisdiction as the
Mayor of Kotte.
Moragasmulla SC babes of the Kotte Football League
fought gallantly with their solid defenceline to keep the experience
Eagle SC at bay in their attempts at the goal mouth., Priyaratna Perera
the goalie of Moragasmulla SC was adjudged the best player of the
tournament for his performances between the posts it was nil all at
halftime.
In the 77th minute referee M. V. S. Jayaweera awarded a
penalty to Eagle SC on hard tackle by Moragasmulla SC defender Ishan D.
Kumar, as the goalie save the penalty for which he was given a special
award.
However, jubilation for the Moragasmulla SC was short
lived and in the 85th minute K. D. Kodagoda the right extreme sent a
beautiful shot from 50 yards which crept through the goal to put Eagle
SC ahead.
V. Manilal Fernando who was the chief guest at the
handing over ceremony of a house built by Kotte FL was a concept of DIG
K. P. P. Pathirana President of Kotte FL, was handedover to veteran
sportsman Somapala Gunaratna for his service to the league, Manilal
Fernando witnessing the final was so impressed by Kotte League's
performances and years of progress of the league requested his FFSL
President DIG Randeniya to announce that Rs. 100,000 will be awarded to
Kotte FL, further he promised Secretary Telesphor Dias that he would
donate Rs. 40,000 to the league out of his personal funds.
DIG Gamini Randeniya President of FFSL gave away the
trophies as chief guest.
