Devadattas of arms lobby working against peace process
A spectre has started to haunt arms dealers, their
agents and purchased journalists, the spectre of an emerging durable
peace; a peace that passeth any possibility of they getting commissions
on arms purchases. Dilan Perera, Deputy Minister of Parts and Aviation
and Deputy Ministers' Forum said in a statement.
These kept journalists will go to any depths to lie and
to throw mud on those working determinedly to bring about peace to Sri
Lanka. Like satan quoting scriptures, they mouth fashionable slogans, on
imperialism, sovereignty, independence in support of their depraved
cause. They claim a love for the country; their love is only for their
pockets, he said.
The statement: "One such piece of misinformation
appeared in the Sunday Divaina of March 6 under the heading, Vagrants
subordinated to Berghof, linking the Berghof Foundation to the Deputy
Ministers' Forum, of which I am a member, claiming that the Foundation
has financed the Forum and even paid the costs of a private dinner I
hosted for the Deputy Ministers.
The Forum has not received a cent from the Berghof
Foundation: I met the costs of the dinner from my private funds.
Peace is a crying need of the country. The Deputy
Ministers' Forum, will work unremittingly to advance the cause for peace
and support fully, the President's passionate commitment for peace.
Good causes always have their opponents. Buddha has his
Devadatta. Arms lobbies and their kept journalists will not deter us in
this noble, compassionate task. I have instructed my lawyers to file
action immediately for defamation, claiming damages for the libellous,
false allegations made against me in the Sunday Divaina of March 6,
2005. |
