K.Sivagananathan Memorial Trust Awards
The K. Sivagananathan Memorial Trust which was set up
over two years ago to award scholarships to needy students pursuing
higher studies in Banking and Finance will have its second Awards
Ceremony today at the Bank of Ceylon Auditorium at 6.30 p.m. Former
Governor of Central Bank, A. S. Jayawardena will be the chief guest.
The K. Sivagananathan Memorial Trust was formed on
August 7, 2002 to fulfil one of K. Sivagananathan's last wishes which
was to assist needy students pursuing careers in the field of banking
and finance.
Late K. Sivagananathan rose from ranks to the level of
Senior Deputy General Manager of Bank of Ceylon, by sheer determination,
dedication and hard work. He successfully completed the Institute of
Bankers (UK) Examinations in 1961.
In a letter found after his death, he had made a request
to form a trust to grant assistance to educate needy students in
banking. |
