SLFP National Women's Conference on March 8

A press conference was held recently at the Ministry of
Samurdhi and Poverty Alleviation to brief the media over the Sri Lanka
Freedom Party Woman's Federation to be held on March 8 at 10 a.m. at
Vihara Maha Devi Park Open Theatre.
Minister of Samurdhi and Poverty Alleviation and the
Deputy Chairwoman of the Sri Lanka Women's Federation Pavithra
Wanniarachchi presided.
The Sri Lanka Freedom Party founded by late S.W.R.D.
Bandaranaike was guided and protected by women leaders such as Mrs.
Sirimavo Bandaranaike President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga
respectively.
By becoming the first woman Prime Minister in the world
Sirimavo Bandaranaike created a new world record and she attracted the
attention of the world towards Sri Lanka. It is said that Sri Lankan
women are capable of holding any type of office at their capacity.
More than six thousand women representing all districts
will grace the meeting to be held under the patronage of President
Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse,
senior members of the party and all women Parliamentarians of the party
are expected to grace the occasion.
Secretary of the Federation Provincial Councillor Miss
Asoka Lankathilake, Treasurer Mrs. Kumari Balasuriya, Deputy Chairwoman
Mrs. Chandrika De Zoysa. Advisor Mrs. Chandra Rajapaksa, Executive
Members Mrs. Nirma Bethmage, and Keerthilatha Lokuliyana also
participated at the press conference. |
