Central Province take 27 run lead

Central Province took a close first innings lead of 27 runs on the second day of their inter provincial cricket tournament final against North Central Province played at the Rangiri International Stadium in Dambulla yesterday.

Central Province went on to make 202 in their first innings with Tharanga Paranavithana and Hasantha Fernando adding 91 runs for the fifth wicket. Paceman Nuwan Kulasekera added two more wickets to his tally and finished with excellent figures of 6 for 71.

However North Central Province collapsed to 165 for 8 in their second innings despite a fighting half century from Mahela Jayawardena. Ruchira Perera turned out to be the wrecker once again capturing four wickets for 54 runs.
