Commercial Bank launches HRD subsidiary 'X-Pertise Ltd.'

The Commercial Bank of Ceylon has established a fully-owned subsidiary to offer employee training and development, banking education, executive search and recruitment, Human Resources (HR) consultation and other HR related services to corporate sector entities in Sri Lanka.


Chairman of Commercial Bank of Ceylon Mahendra Amarasuriya presents a plaque to the Dean of the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School Prof. Lim Chin at the launch of Commercial Bank’s HRD subsidiary‘X-Pertise Ltd’.

The new company, X-Pertise Limited is an extension of the training facilities provided by the Bank's Staff Development Centre into a fully-fledged HRD solutions provider.

X-Pertise Limited will provide a wide range of HR services such as general and customised programmes conducted both locally and overseas, training needs analyses and formulation of training plans as well as training and feedback mechanisms.

In addition, the new subsidiary will also offer consultancy and operational HR Services in key areas of Human Resource Management such as recruitment and selection, compensation management and performance management for other corporates.

The new company also plans to initiate, liaise, conduct and manage courses on banking education, conduct banking examinations in Sri Lanka and award Banking Diplomas in collaboration with institutions such as the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) Mumbai. In addition, the X-Pertise will provide consultancy and research and carry out special projects for clients.

Addressing the launch function Chairman of Commercial Bank Mahendra Amarasuriya said: "Our vision is to become the most sought after provider of human resources services in Sri Lanka. In the recent past Commercial Bank has taken significant initiatives in the sphere of Human Resource management, and we are now ready to take a quantum leap forward with this new HR subsidiary."

The Bank has launched several other initiatives in the sphere of Human Resource Management, including tie ups with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Bangkok to provide managerial training programmes in Bangkok and Colombo and with the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) to bring another channel of Banking Education based on the Distance Education concept to Sri Lanka.

The Bank recently entered in to a partnership with the prestigious National University of Singapore (NUS) to organise NUS training programmes at an affordable cost in Sri Lanka and Singapore.
