Prefabricated houses for affected

Ro-com Trades, sole agents for IHE prefabricated affordable houses from the USA has offered a special service for tsunami victims.

M. Osman Suffyan, Managing Partner of the company told the Daily News that its principals International Home Exports, Inc of USA have made three special offers to supply prefabricate affordable houses which can be built within three days with a less number of workers.

He said these special houses will help overcome the housing issues such as shortage of river sand, cement, water, timber.

"These houses have a life span over 100 years and they can withstand earthquakes, hurricanes, typhoons, tornadoes and has a wind tolerance of 120 MPH. Considering the above features, we believe this offer will be of great advantage in the construction of houses at this time of the hour and in the future," Suffyan said.


Tea production in January

The Sri Lanka Tea Board announced that according to the available figures, the total production of black tea in Sri Lanka during January 2005 amounted to 26,068,759 kg. as against 24,623,901 kg. produced during the corresponding month in 2004. This shows an increase of 1,444,858 kg. or 5.9%.
