WHO team due here to combat mystery disease

A special World Health Organisation (WHO) team is due here shortly to assist Sri Lankan specialists trying to combat a mystery illness which has hit the Badulla and Moneragala areas. The disease which bears symptoms of chest pains, breathlessness and accelerated heartbeat has so far believed to have afflicted 184 persons in the region with 64 confirmed cases.

CNO data was regularly available to public: Dr. de Mel

Former Chief of the Centre for National Operations (CNO) Dr. Tara de Mel has flatly rejected a report in an English daily (not of the Lake House) as incorrect and misleading saying all data pertaining to tsunami victims in the possession of the CNO was in the public domain and there was no secrecy whatsoever.

Prince Charles to meet President, visit Batticaloa

British heir to the throne Prince Charles who was expected to arrive in the country early today to visit the tsunami ravaged Batticaloa district will meet President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga to discuss reconstruction assistance at the President's House at 11.00 am.
