Wijayasiri in Kandy A resolution moved at the Central Provincial Council, meeting yesterday by chief opposition whip Saliya Bandara Dissanayake (UNP) was rejected by the Council with even the opposition UNP members voting against it with the ruling Alliance members. Chairman D. Madiyugaraja presided. Dissanayake moved that the council minister's approval should be obtained when machinery, cash and employees belonging to local bodies under the council are loaned to institutions outside the province. When the resolution was put to the House, opposition members voted against it with the ruling party members leaving the proposer alone. |
