by Sandasen Marasinghe Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva has appointed a Trial-at-Bar to hear the High Court Judge Sarath Ambepitiya murder case. This is at the Attorney General's request. The Trial-at-Bar will comprise High Court Judge Upali Abeyratne (President), High Court Judge W.A.I. Ratnayake and High Court Judge I. M. Abeyratne. Mohommad Niyas Naufer alias Potta Naufer, Sujith Rohana Rupasinghe, Suminda Nishantha, Udara Perera and Lasantha Kumara is to be indicted within the next few days before the Colombo High Court. All suspects including Potta Naufer will be indicted for conspiring to murder Ambepitiya and his Police bodyguard Chief Inspector R.A. Upali. The rest will be indicted for committing the murder of the High Court Judge and his bodyguard on November 19, 2004. Potta Naufer will also be indicted for aiding and abetting to commit the murder. |
