The Kalutara District Development Committee meeting was held under the patronage of the Buddhasasana, Public Security, Law and Order Minister and Deputy Defence Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake at Kalutara District Secretariat premises recently, where he has appointed five sub committees to be in-charge of the development projects to rehabilitate tsunami affected of the Kalutara district. The five sub committees are as follows: The Housing and Town Development Committee headed by the Deputy Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Udarata Development Rohitha Abeygunawardana. The Infrastructure Development Committee headed by Deputy Minister of Power and Energy Kumara Welgama. The Fisheries and Coastal Protection Committee headed by Kalutara district MP Nandana Gunathilaka. The Social Service Committee headed by Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera, Kalutara district MP. Social Welfare Activities Development Committee headed by Kaluatara district MP Mahinda Samarasinghe. Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake addressing the members of the committees emphasised that no political and other differences will affect these activities. This will be undertaken purely for the relief of the tsunami affected and finding them suitable residential facilities and employment. The Western Province Governor Alavi Mowlana, Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Kalutara District MPs, The Chairmen of the local bodies and their members, Heads of different departments participated. |
