Duty free treatment from EU: Lanka's efforts bear fruit Minister of Trade, Commerce and Consumer Affairs Jeyaraj Fernandopulle

Lanka's exports to the 25 trading nations of the European Union citing the
particularly difficult situation Sri Lanka faces after the tsunami
disaster, has obtained a very positive reply from his counterpart in the
European Commission, Peter Mandelson. ADB sets up $600m tsunami fund The Asian Development Bank (ADB) said yesterday it would set up a
600-million-dollar fund to deliver prompt emergency funding to Asian
countries hit by the Indian Ocean tsunamis in December. The Asian Tsunami
Fund will deliver grants for emergency technical assistance and investment
projects to support reconstruction and rehabilitation in India, Indonesia,
Maldives, Sri Lanka and Thailand, the ADB said. Former US Presidents to visit Matara Former US Presidents George Bush Snr and Bill Clinton will arrive in
Sri Lanka tomorrow afternoon and hold an evening meeting with President
Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga. They will tour tsunami-affected areas
in Matara on Monday morning and then depart for the Maldives. Nearly 7,000 out of 9,000 pharmacies do not have qualified pharmacists by Bharatha Malawaraarachchi Out of the 9,000 pharmacies in Sri Lanka, nearly 7,000 do not have
qualified pharmacists who have a knowledge about drugs and pharmaceutical
items, a survey reveals. The survey also reveals that out of the 9,000
