| 80% UNPers not with leader - UNP MMC UNP member of the Moratuwa Municipal Council Deepal Rodrigo who took his seat as Independent councillor at the monthly meeting of the MMC in January challenged UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe to submit himself to a test of popularity through a secret vote at a special UNP convention. The member declared that Wickremesinghe was not acceptable as a Presidential candidate to over 80% of UNPers. Mayor Ravinath Gunasekera: Are you UNP or SLFP. Rodrigo: This is not a Montessori. There must be democracy in the Party before we talk of establishing democracy in the country. |
