President arrives in Pakistan, boost for
bilateral ties

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga arrived in Islamabad last night on a three-day State visit. Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar and Housing, Industries, Construction and Eastern Province Education and Development Minister Ferial Ashraff, several senior Government officials and leading members of the Sri Lankan business community accompanied her.

WB, ADB and JBIC to jointly raise US $ 500 m

The three principal donors of Sri Lanka, the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation yesterday announced that they were planning to raise US $ 500 million together to meet the short and medium-term reconstruction projects in Sri Lanka.
