Opportunities to Enhance Trade with China The Sri Lanka - China Business Council affiliated to the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC), in an effort to assist its members in enhancing trade between Sri Lanka and China, has organised a Seminar on "Doing Business with China" on February 17, 2005. The seminar is organised in association with the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka and the venue would be the Auditorium of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. The primary objective of the Seminar is to offer guidelines to interested parties on how to enhance trade with China. The Council has identified three eminent personalities, with vast experience in dealing with the Chinese market, to address the gathering. Mr. Chen Feng, Third Secretary (Economic & Commercial) of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka would provide an overview of bi-lateral trade between Sri Lanka and China, and also outline strategies to promote growth in trade. Mr. Anton Abeysekera, Director, Singer Asia Logistics, Hong Kong, and the immediate past President of the Council, will focus on the challenges and opportunities for trade with China. The final speaker Ms. Linda Zhang, Director of Starlight Lin (Private) Limited, who has a well established business in Sri Lanka, will offer advice and share her experiences on how to successfully conduct business with China. To add value to the seminar, Mr. Hemantha Galgamuwa, Asst. Director-ISB Services Limited, an experienced organiser of delegations to the world-renowned Canton Fair, would speak on the importance of visiting International Trade Fairs. He would speak on the proposed trade delegation to the April 2005 Canton Fair, and the advantages of group participation at the Fair. |
