Second stage of "1000 industrial villages" Program gets under way by Irangika Range The Ministry of Small and Rural Industries launched the second stage of its national program to develop 1000 industrial villages in the Hambantota District recently. Under the second stage two industrial villages will be set up at Muthiyammagama and Angulmaduwa. Under this program a centre for gold, silver, bronze, reed products and domestic equipment manufacturing have been set up with an investment of Rs.6, 00,000 at Angulmaduwa. A leather product-manufacturing village has been set up at Muthiyammagama. The Ministry in collaboration with the Industrial Development Board (IDB) has already trained people at Muthiyammagama to produce high quality leather products for local and international markets. Deputy Minister Sunil Handunnetti said that the Ministry has aimed to set up the basic facilities providing centres and educate industrialists on modern technology and marketing under the second stage. It will also provide management training to each industrialist. |
