CSE records new high The All Share Price Index (ASPI) of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) recorded yet again a new high. The ASPI which started the day at 1663.10 points closed the day at 1684.08 points moving up by 20.98 points (1.26pc). The MILANKA Price Index (MPI) which started the day at 2294.85 points closed the day at 2338.30 points appreciating 43.45 points (1.89pc). A total turnover of Rs 811.7 million was recorded during the day with a share volume of 17.6 million shares being traded. The Diversified sector accounted for 43pc of the total turnover while the Power and Energy sector accounted for 20pc of the total share volume. Motors (6.35pc), Telecommunication (3.13pc), Diversified ( 1.88pc) and Power and Energy (1.88pc) recorded significant gains during the day while the Health Care Sector recorded a negative growth of 1.06 per cent. Foreign investors were the diving force behind the upward trend today with a net inflow of Rs 169.0 million. Foreign purchases accounted for 40pc of the total turnover of Rs 811.7 million. Top gainers for the day included Colombo Fort Investment, Vanik, AMW, Colombo Land (Warrants) and Colombo Investment Trusts. |
