Bonsoir with a new look

France, who was among the first countries to send emergency aid as the world became aware of the tsunami tragedy, continue to work with the rest of the international community to be of assistance to Sri Lanka in every possible way.

As we enter in to the year 2005, I address you on a more sombre note as Sri Lanka is trying to recover from the most painful ordeal in its recent history, which struck in the form of a deadly tsunami.

My thoughts and profound compassion go out to all Sri Lankans, especially to the families of the victims, said French Ambassador Jean Bernard de Vaivre in a message. As some form of normalcy is slowly coming back to our lives, let me present you with the first important event in our cultural calendar, he said.

In January 2005, Bonsoir program will come up on your television with a brand new look. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the tricolour elephant, the Embassy of France in Colombo and Canal France International have combined their efforts to revamp the Bonsoir programme.

Cultural connections between France and Sri Lanka will be the main theme of Bonsoir magazine as usual but, a new style, a new range of subjects and issues, new images and new presenters will add more colour and glamour to the program that you already know.

Stephane Bertin, an expert on audiovisual media, is working along with the Bonsoir team and the cultural section of the French Embassy, to bring this new version of the Bonsoir TV magazines to your home TV screens from January 2005.

"I would also like to remind you to await, in the month of March, the next edition of News from France, the quarterly newsletter of the Embassy of France in Sri Lanka.

We are happy and proud to say that, from this edition onwards News from France will be coming to you in Sinhala and Tamil versions separately, in addition to the English version," the Ambassador said.
