The Dubai Humanitarian City and the Dubai-based International Association for Human Values plan to send additional relief aid to tsunami victims, officials said. "We are distressed by the scale of human suffering caused by this disaster [and so we have] embarked upon a campaign to provide aid to the victims," said Saeed Bin Suloom, chief executive of Dubai Humanitarian City. "We collected 11 tonnes of relief materials, including food, clothing, blankets and water, which was immediately airlifted to a relief camp for 5,000 displaced children in Sri Lanka," he said. "We want to send at least another 100 tonnes of relief materials to India and Sri Lanka," said Prabhakar Rao, chief operations officer of the International Association for Human Values, Dubai. "Reacting rapidly to the disaster is the key to our joint operations," he said. (Gulf News) |
