Negombo YSC topples Ratnams SC 3-1 by Bernard Perera Negombo Youth SC created major upset when they trounced table leaders Ratnam SC by 3 goals to 1 at Police Park yesterday. Negombo Youth's win yesterday also stopped Ratnam SC's chances of capturing the Kit Premier League championship. At lemons the scores were level, one-all. W. P. C. Karunaratne (2) and Nimal Anthony (1) scored for the winners. Blue Star win In another game yesterday at Shalika ground Blue Star SC from Kalutara defeated Renown SC three goals to nil to stay at the second position in the points table. Drawn game The third game of the day played at City Football League ground between Java Lane and Jupiters SC ended in a two-all draw. With Ratnam SC set back yesterday the championship is wide open with Saunders SC having a big chance of reaching the top. They are left with five more games. If the Pettah club clinches all these five games they can oust all the leaders. |
