Schoolchildren and political personalities gathered at the Independence Square, Colombo to pay tribute to the victims of the tsunami and to reaffirm Sri Lankans’ commitment to rebuild their country in a spirit of unity and cooperation. The event was organised by electronic and print media institutions. Sri Lanka determinedly rising from the ashes

The entire nation, determined to rise from the ashes of the country's worst ever disaster marked the first one month since the tsunami disaster observing one minutes' silence as a mark of respect to more than 30,000 people killed in the massive tidal waves, as the clock struck 9.36 yesterday morning.

Govt - LTTE dialogue on for joint participation in tsunami relief programme
