This move by the UNP Leader has triggered strong opposition within the party hierarchy who has reacted with alarm at their leader's attitude to make the Tsunami Disaster a guise to announce his personal political agenda. According to Sirikotha sources, a certain group of party stalwarts have decided to boycott tomorrow's meeting fearing that their leader was preparing the ground to foster a personal political agenda which can turn out to be an Election Manifesto in the guise of a National Policy. The dissident group contend that at a time when the general cry is for a consensus for an action plan to retrieve the country in the aftermath of the tsunami, it is inappropriate and unacceptable to announce an election manifesto in the guise of a National Policy. |
