Ceylinco Life awards record 237 new 'Pranama' scholarships

Ceylinco Life's flagship Corporate Social Responsibility project the Ceylinco Pranama Scholarship scheme broke new ground last week, with the presentation of a record 237 new scholarships worth more than Rs 8 million to students from all districts of the country.

The fourth annual scholarships presentation by the country's most successful life insurer nearly doubled the number of students benefited by the scheme, from 243 to 480, significantly enhancing its reach and stature. Top education sector officials, school principals and parents were hosted to an inspiring event at the BMICH, with students from remote areas in Jaffna to Hambantota and Mannar to Batticaloa mingling with their peers from Colombo and other major cities as they trouped up to the stage to accept their Pranama scholarships.

Addressing the gathering, Ceylinco Consolidated Director Sicille Kotelawala, who represented her husband Dr. Lalith Kotelawala, said: "It is our intention to make an enduring contribution to the future of Sri Lanka by investing in the younger generation.

We firmly believe that education is the key to advancement and will be the foundation to ensuring that better leaders will chart the destiny of our country some years from now."

"As Sri Lanka's most successful life insurance company, Ceylinco Life will always be committed to the well-being and aspirations of the community. We will continue to allocate funds for the Pranama Scholarships Scheme, and constantly search for ways in which to enrich the lives of our policyholders."

Ceylinco Life Chief Executive Director R. Renganathan said, "Many children who lost their lives would have been tomorrow's leaders.

Ceylinco Life and the Ceylinco Group are committed to help the survivors rebuild their shattered lives and restore their hopes.
