Ajith Abeyatunga gave a very pleasant surprise to 80 school children on Sunday, January 9 at Gamini M.M. Vidyalaya, Nakulugamuwa, Tangalle with haversacks carrying new set of schoolbooks. This surprise set was extended with shoes, socks, drawing materials, toys and sweets. All this was made possible through his Dutch employer who sponsored these gifts. They are also setting up a foundation that will help all the children who survived the traumatic experience of the tsunami to become happy adults in future. Dutch philanthropist Ton Willemsen has got some school children from his home town in Holland to draw the best picture that they ever made in their whole life and these drawings along with other surprise presents will be distributed this weekend among 1,000 homeless Sri Lankan children who got nothing left. The surprise is a haversack with toys, sweets, drawing equipment, some school materials and of course the individual drawing of a Dutch kid along with a photo of the complete school class. The Sri Lankan children will be challenged to make a drawing for the giving kids. If you want to join hands for this worthy cause and require more information, please visit: www.kids4kids.org. If you like to see the drawings or hear more about this initiative, please call Kidsforkids Lanka on 0112588901 or 0773082111. |
