Interest rates may go down further - CB Governor The Central Bank Governor Sunil Mendis said yesterday that the reducing inflation levels and forthcoming Maha season could help further reduction of interest rates. "The foreign aid inflow and reduced domestic borrowings will have a favourable effect on inflation levels. The paddy harvest from the Maha season would also contribute to reduce the inflation," the Governor said. The Central Bank announced recently that it would keep the policy rates unchanged in spite of the tsunami disaster. |
