Mahathir turns chauffeur in tsunami aid

KUALA LUMPUR, Wednesday (Reuters) Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad plans to auction off his services as a part-time chauffeur to raise money for Asia's tsunami victims.

The country's longest serving and most outspoken premier, who turned 79 last month, is to climb into the driver's seat on Sunday to chauffeur the nine highest bidders around Malaysia's Formula One race track, south of the capital Kuala Lumpur.

But the controversial statesman is for once taking a cautious approach, choosing a four-wheel-drive Porsche Cayenne as his vehicle, according to the organiser's Web site. No one is expecting a lap record.
