Musharraf seeks US help to resolve Kashmir dispute ISLAMABAD, Wednesday (Xinhua) Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf has required the US help in resolving the Kashmir dispute with India. "President General Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday stressed the need for the United States to help resolve the Jammu and Kashmir dispute which is root cause of tension in South Asia," said a report of the local leading English language newspaper Dawn here on Wednesday. Speaking to a four-member US Senate delegation on Tuesday, Musharraf recalled his talk with US President George W. Bush on the need to address the long-standing issues like Palestine and Kashmir to bring an end to the present turmoil, the report said. The president had an in-depth exchange of views with the delegation led by Senators Majority Leader Bill First on Pak-US relations and regional and international issues, including the Pakistan-India peace process, said the report. The visiting Senators briefed Musharraf on their discussions in India. They expressed support for the ongoing bilateral dialogue to resolve all pending issues between Pakistan and India, including the Jammu and Kashmir issue, the report said. |
