Fingara outclass TVS Lanka by 190 runs

Fingara Town and Country Club beat much fancied TVS Lanka by massive 190 runs in the Division III Mercantile Indoor Cricket Tournament held at Austasia Sports Complex in Thalawathugoda recently.

Fingara could not have asked for a better start in the new year as this win will boost their chances of reaching the last eight with all four bonus points were awarded with a huge percentage.

TVS Lanka who won the toss and elected to bat first, could not handle the hostile bowling of Nishad Perera and Milinda Sepala who ran through their opposition by taking 9 wickets among them.

TVS could not recover from this setback and eventually managed only minus 40 runs in their allotted 16 overs.

Nishad and Sepala were well-backed up by Udaya Kumara who took 4 for minus 10 runs. Skipper Sanjeewa Weerasinghe was dynamic in the field was also among the best bowlers with the figures of 3 for minus 3 runs.

Nishad and Sepala continued with their good work with an opening stand of 33 runs with the scores of 16 and 17 respectively.

The next two batting pairs Umal, Sajith, Aravinda and Sujeewa kept their opponents under bay with the score reading 95 runs at the end of the 12th over.

The last pair in Captain Weerasinghe and Udaya put the result beyond doubt with a blistering partnership of 55 runs. Sanjeewa was the chief contributor with a score of 33 runs and Udaya scored 22 runs.

TVS Lanka had no answer to the sizzling batting displayed by Fingara are in real danger of missing out on quarter finals which begins in February.

Fingara Town and Country Club, a member of Ceylinco Consolidated will face Axara Mass next game on the 14th January at the same venue.

Captain Sanjeewa Weerasinghe said that although they lack experience his team is filled with lot of potential and hoping his team will be a major force when they reach the knockout stage.
