by Malmi Sellahannadi Colombo Mayor Prasanna Gunawardena has offered the Council's maximum support to help the Government rebuild the country in the aftermath of the Tsunami disaster. The Mayor expressed this commitment during a special discussion with a delegation of Buddhist monks on the future plans for the rehabilitation of Tsunami affected victims in the Colombo district. Religious rites were performed for casualties of the tsunami by Colombo Deputy Chief Sanganayake Ven. Arama Dhamma Thera on Tuesday at the Mayor's residence. Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara, Deputy Speaker Geethanjana Gunawardhana were among those present at the occasion. "This is the best time to work unitedly. The Government has the responsibility to obtain the support of all sections to rebuild our country", Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara said. |
