Suspect granted bail by Sarath Malalasekera Dinesh Madava Perera of Kelanimulla, Mulleriyawa, who had been remanded in connection with the grenade attack on the Shahrukh Khan musical show at the Old Race Course grounds, was released yesterday on bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Ms. Sarojini Kusala Weerawardena. The Judge ordered the suspect to furnish cash bail in Rs. 22,500 and a bond of Rs. 9 lakhs with a surety. Earlier the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) investigating the grenade attack on the Shahrukh Khan musical show filed 'B' reports before Court against the suspect who is alleged to have involved in the unlawful assembly and damaging the public and private properties on the day of the incident. Filing a further report in connection with the ongoing investigations, the CCD officials said that according to the available evidence and the video tapes viewed by the authorities, that the suspect now in custody had taken a major role in the incident. The suspect is alleged to have damaged Nandana Motor Sales office, several vehicles, one belonged to the STF, one belonged to the Petroleum Corporation bearing number GS-7966 and the other belonged to the Thalangama police station, truck bearing number 68-1486, the Police said. The CCD officials said that they have no objection to the suspect being released on bail. The investigators also seized the motorcycle belonged to the suspect, bearing number 152-4288. "We are working on several vital clues that have surfaced over the past few days and it will only be matter of time before we have the other suspects in the bag" CCD Director Senior SP Sarath Lugoda said. Already the five investigation teams including the CID deployed by IGP Chandra Fernando have unearthed sufficient material for an arrest to be made very soon,the CCD Director said. |
