Asian Paints enhances capacity at Lankan plant The India-based multinational coatings giant Asian Paints has installed a state-of-the-art automated filling machine at the company's factory at Moratuwa. The new machine minimises human intervention and error in the process of filling leading to a faster completion of the production cycle, the company said. Asian Paints Director/General Manager A.H.M Mubarak said: "This new machine will double our speed and production capacity to cater to the increasing market demand for our products. The new machine will also contribute to enhancing overall efficiency of the process. This is part of an ongoing investment to upgrade and enhance production capacity." Asian Paints recently received ISO 9001:2000 certification for design and manufacture of paints at the company's factory in Moratuwa as well as for sales and distribution. Asian Paints entered the Sri Lankan market in 1999, and manufactures and markets an extensive range of products. The company has also introduced its proprietary automatic tinting and dispensing 'Colourworld' outlets in many parts of the island. Asian Paints Lanka's parent company, Asian Paints India commenced operations in Mumbai, in India in 1942 and has grown into one of India's most respected multinationals with international operations in 24 countries. |
