.........Cooperates in the East by Asanga Warnakulasuriya The LTTE political and military wing leaders in the Eastern Province had met the Special Task Force (STF) Commandant and had agreed to give their fullest co-operation to relief and rehabilitation programs initiated by the STF in the Ampara district. STF Commandant DIG Nimal Lueke told the Daily News yesterday that military wing leaders Kaushalayan, Bhanu, Manoj Master and Jenarathan had praised STF efforts to help the affected families in Ampara district and extended their support to relief programs in the district. "We are very happy with the work the STF has done so far and we would like to join the STF and help road and infrastructure development in Tsunami affected area in the North East," Kaushalyan had told the STF Commandant. The DIG further said: "We have identified 102 refugee camps in Ampara District and an OIC has been assigned to every camp for a routine check every morning". The OIC has to report the developments and shortcomings in distributing relief to the Ampara STF Headquarters. The Headquarters will coordinate with the Ampara Government Agent, the Commandant said. |
