LTTE stirs trouble in North The Army's humanitarian activities which are bridging the gap between the Tamil people and the Security Forces is beginning to cause concern to some sections of the LTTE, according to reports from the North. Certain sections of the LTTE are very concerned about the bonhomie between the people and the Sri Lanka Army, the reports said. Northern residents and aid workers are voicing concern about the LTTE's conduct after LTTEers allegedly set fire to cadjan hut near a refugee camp at Kudathenai, Point Pedro. The Army was very helpful and saved many lives when the tsunami waves hit this area. The Army was providing the displaced inmates of this camp food and other facilities. On January 1, an Army officer had taken dinner for the inmates of this camp. Two LTTE cadres who were among the displaced there had started an argument and flung away the food saying they didn't need it. This resulted in an argument. One member of the LTTE was then taken into VVT hospital by the LTTE. Certain disgruntled elements in the LTTE claim that this person was assaulted by the Army. Some other LTTE members had delivered four bottles of kerosene oil and a cadjan hut in the vicinity was set ablaze after this incident. The LTTE is however claiming that the Army did it. |
