Colombo-Galle highway cleared

The Colombo-Galle highway which was not motorable after the tsunami disaster has been cleared for traffic, the Police Headquarters announced yesterday.

OPEC grants US$ 200,000

The OPEC fund for International Development has approved US $ 1.2 million as emergency aid for tsunami affected countries. Out of this US $ 200,000 will be allocated for Sri Lanka, the Finance Ministry said yesterday.

In a letter to Finance Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama, OPEC Fund Director General Suleiman J. AL-Herbish says this assistance will signify their solidarity with the victims of the disaster.
