Elected SLAAS General President Prof. Tuley de Silva was elected as the General President for year 2005 at the 60th annual session of the SLAAS. He will be inducted on January 19. He is at present a Visiting Professor at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura having served as the Professor of Chemistry, Head of the Department, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and the President of the Campus. During this period, he was the team leader of two collaborative research projects on medicinal plants and Ayurveda drugs. He was awarded the D.Sc. (Honoris Causa) by the University of Sri Jayewardenepura for his contributions to the development of the University, Scientific Research, Industrial Development both local and international level and active contributions to professional bodies. He was awarded a guest professorship at the Shenyang Pharmaceutical University in China for his contributions to the development of industries based on medicinal and aromatic plants. He was a Visiting Professor at the University of Maryland in USA. |
