NZC to partner with World Vision in raising tsunami funds New Zealand Cricket is partnering with World Vision as part of its tsunami relief fundraising efforts. World Vision will be raising funds through NZC's websites, which are some of the busiest in the country during the summer months and proceeds from all NZC's fundraising efforts will go to World Vision's relief efforts. NZC CEO Martin Snedden said NZC including the BLACKCAPS and staff, felt strongly about the need to support relief efforts in Sri Lanka and other affected countries and saw the focus on cricket over the summer as an ideal vehicle for raising funds. World Vision New Zealand CEO Helen Green said she was "thrilled" to partner with NZC to raise funds for tsunami relief. "It is recognition of the global reputation that World Vision has for disaster relief," she said. NZC fundraising activities will include: * New Zealand Cricket will donate $1 from every ticket sold to the first men's international Twenty20 match against Australia in Auckland on February 17 to tsunami relief. * The BLACKCAPS will donate their signed, match-day shirts from the Twenty 20 match for a fundraising auction. These retro style eighties playing shirts will be produced especially for this match. New Zealand Cricket's broadcast partner, SKY Television, will promote and manage the auction of these items. * The sponsor of the BLACKCAPS and NZC's international home series, The National Bank, will also be involved in a number of NZC fundraising activities. * New Zealand Cricket's ticketing partner, Ticketek, will donate its share of the service fee on all the tickets for the unplayed matches against Sri Lanka directly to the World Vision fund. * New Zealand Cricket's apparel supplier and partner, Wstar, will donate a portion of the sale price of all product sold at ground during the forthcoming tour to New Zealand by Australia to World Vision. "We are involved in discussions regarding an international cricket match involving a possible World or Asian XI in mid January and have offered the ICC any assistance, including making players available or hosting the match. "We are also working with outside parties on a number of other fundraising initiatives and we will make announcements about these activities as they progress," he said. |
