All should work to save the country, says Ranil

Each and every person of the country as political parties and as the civil society should fulfil the responsibility vested upon them in the process of reconstructing the country to rise from the ashes of destruction, Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said yesterday.

Addressing the Adhishtana Pooja ceremony yesterday at Henry Pedris Stadium Colombo, in memory of those who were killed in Sunday's tsunami disaster, the Opposition Leader said people lost their lives disregarding their class, creed, ethnic and political affiliation.

The Opposition Leader stressed that reconstruction work should be given top priority to bring back the country towards normality as people have lost their properties and their sources of income following the disaster.

The Opposition Leader thanked all who started helping each other soon after tsunami waves hit the country causing massive destruction in the country.

Wickremsinghe said as the Opposition Leader, immediately after hearing about the massive destruction, he assured the Prime Minister that the Opposition support will be with the Government.

He said people should he determined to rise from the rubble facing this challenge effective as one nation.
