by Sarath Malalasekera President's Counsel Eardley Perera died after a brief illness in Moratuwa yesterday morning. Eardley Perera was born on October 20, 1925 and commenced his education at St. Bridget's Convent, Colombo. Later he attended St. Sebestian's College, Moratuwa. He played cricket, football, hockey and tennis for his alma mater before he entered the Law College in 1944. He also attended St. Joseph's College, Colombo. At Law College Perera passed all the examinations in the first attempt and won the scholarship at the Intermediate Examination for the Admission of Advocates. Perera was elected as the President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka in 1977 and in 1978. He led a delegation to the Commonwealth Law Conference in 1978. He took oaths as a President's Counsel in 1981. He has been a Member of the Council of Legal Education. He also served on the Law Commission. His funeral will take place on Sunday, January 2 at Moratuwa at 4 p.m. |
